AMC Clinical Examination Preparation Intensive Crash Course

This course will be useful to candidates who have their AMC Clinical examination coming up in one week’s time. The prime focus will be on:
- Appropriate history taking, investigation planning and interpretation, diagnostic formulation, management planning, counselling and performance of procedures.
- Relevant physical examination
- Covering emergency cases studies
- Intensive trial examinations for 2-3 days with feedback on how to pass the clinical stations
- On how a candidate evaluates the given information for each station and plans their approach to the assessment phase.
8-Week Clinical Preparation Course

Formal Clinical Trial Exam

ARIMGSAS hosts Formal Trial Examinations from January to November. Our Formal Clinical Trial Examination follows the same format as the AMC Clinical Examination. There are 20 stations which comprises of 14 scored stations, 2 pilot (non-scored) stations, and 4 rest (non-scored) stations. The 4 non-scored rest stations allow candidates an opportunity to have a break at predetermined intervals.
The clinical examination pilot stations will not be identified to candidates during the examination. The trial examination is structured in the same format as the actual AMC exam, with two minutes reading time and eight minutes to complete the task. Written feedback for each station is provided with the marksheet. At the end of the examination, a feedback session is provided by one of our AMC Certified Doctors which includes discussing the structure, tasks and key points important to AMC. FIND OUT MORE……
Formal MCQ Trial Exam

ARIMGSAS host both Casual and Formal MCQ trial exams. These exams are free for students of MCQ and spaces permitting, we open these exams up to members from other facilities who wish to practice MCQ Trial Examinations for an upcoming Examination Date in a less stressful environment. The cost for non-ARIMGSAS students is $30 for Casual Examinations, and $100 for Formal Examinations. The exams can either be completed at ARIMGSAS or in the comfort of your liking. If you choose to complete your examincation at ARIMGSAS, one of our Tablets will be loaned to you for the duration of your examination. Each trial exam is structured in the same format as the actual AMC exam, with 90 seconds per question.
You will receive your mark at the end of the examination. Both examination types use questions written for ARIMGSAS following the AMC Guidelines. FIND OUT MORE…..
MCQ Bridging Course

The HEAL MCQ Bridging Course guides students to be more efficient in their preparation for the AMC MCQ exam and our new look course provides you with maximum flexibility. The MCQ course is a topic based face-to-face course that uses the AMC Handbook of Multiple Choice Questions and a range of other resources as the basis to teaching. Our structure is tried and proven and our results support this approach. HEAL’s Learning Management System (LMS) is available to students and contains over 200 topic modules, 800 MCQs and 300 videos to assist your preparation. It is available to HEAL MCQ course participants 24 hours a day from wherever you have internet access.
The course also includes a formal MCQ trial exam undertaken in a computer lab. The exam is 150 MCQ questions across a 3.5 hour timeframe. A review session in the days following the trial exam is offered in-class with a tutor. Our tutors undertake training which observes modern teaching principles, learning styles and structure and important considerations that can affect the outcome of learning for students. HEAL’s medical advisor is on staff to guide the program and curriculum. As a practising Professor of Medicine he is also the medical advisor to Therapeutic Guidelines, a provider of reliable and independent therapeutic information to help health professionals make the best decisions for their patients. 6-Day Clinical Preparation Course

The 6 day clinical preparation course offers candidates the opportunity to increase confidence and improve performance in the AMC clinical examination. The course provides a focussed approach to exam preparation and provides a greater understanding of the exam format. Across the 6 days candidates will roleplay cases appropriate to the AMC clinical exam. The course is aimed at candidates who feel that they are almost ready to sit their exam.
Candidates will also have the opportunity to develop techniques for a structured approach to cases, have plenty of opportunity to practice and observe clinical role-play scenarios and receive feedback about role-play performance. It is recommended that you have a copy of the AMC Handbook of Clinical Assessment as this is widely used during the course. FIND OUT MORE……
Clinical Trial Mock Exam

Each trial exam is conducted using the same format as that of the Australian Medical Council (AMC) Clinical Examination with 16 Objective Structured Clinical Examination (OSCE) stations and 4 rest stations. The OSCEs cover medical, surgical, psychiatric, obstetrics & gynaecology and paediatric clinical situations.
Candidates have 2 minutes reading time, 8 minutes to complete the task and then 2 minutes feedback from the Examiner at each station. Additionally, all candidates receive a copy of the written marking sheet from each station. At the conclusion of the exam, candidates attend a feedback session by the lead examiner. There are two ways you can participate in our clinical trial exams. Either enrol in one of our clinical bridging courses (where clinical trial exams are included in the cost of the course), or you can register for the trial exam on its own. FIND OUT MORE……

This is a 12 week course. Our Clinical Bridging Course is a full-time program (24 contact hours a week) for overseas medical graduates who are looking to practice in Australia. By the time you have finished the course, you will have the knowledge you need to sit the AMC clinical exam with confidence.
Taught by practitioners in their respective fields, you will be taken through a range of clinical subjects and learn how to apply them to practise in Australia. Lectures and tutorials are classroom based and include regular ward visits, and focus on:
- medicine
- surgery
- obstetrics and gynaecology
- paediatrics
- psychiatry
- workplace preparation, such as diagnosis, consulting and communication skills.
As a student you will be givien the opportunity to observe in the clinical environment. Additionally, the course features a number of role-play workshops, which encourage you to get fully involved in discussions on key issues with fellow students. The Clinical Bridging Intensive (9 week course), is a full-time program (5 days a week between Monday to Friday) for international medical graduates who are looking to practise in Australia. By the time you have finished the course, you will have all the knowledge you need to sit the AMC clinical exam with confidence. Taught by practitioners in their respective fields, you will be taken through a range of clinical subjects and learn how those are practised in Australia. Lectures and tutorials are given in:

PESCI (Pre-Employment Structured Clinical Interview

International Medical Graduates (IMGs) applying for limited registration or provisional registration may be required to undergo a Pre-Employment Structured Clinical Interview (PESCI). The information obtained from the PESCI is considered by the Medical Board when it decides whether to grant registration. A PESCI is an objective assessment of your knowledge, skills, clinical experience and attributes to determine whether you are suitable to practise in a specific position.
